38,507 Magnetic Toy Sets Recalled Over Deadly Magnet Ingestion Risk to Children

Federal safety officials announced another high-powered magnetic toy recall this week, and this one carries one of the most serious warnings the agency issues. On September 17, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), working with importer Colerinsec, recalled about 38,507 Jerify Magnetic Humanoid Toy Sets because the small figures can shed loose, high-powered magnets that a child can swallow. Two children have already been hospitalized after ingesting magnets pulled from the toys, and the CPSC warns that swallowed magnets can cause life-threatening internal injuries.

What happened

The recall (CPSC number 26-774) covers the “Jerify Magnetic Humanoid Toy Sets 30 PCS,” a 30-piece set of human-shaped figures roughly 2.7 inches tall and 2.5 inches wide. The figures come in ten colors, with small magnets embedded in their hands and feet so the pieces snap together. They were sold in an unlabeled clear bag inside a brown box marked “Jerify,” carrying model number X003ADA3TD.

According to the CPSC, the toys were sold on Amazon.com from October 2022 through May 2026 for about $21. The agency says they violate the mandatory federal safety standard for toys because they can release loose, high-powered magnets small enough to be swallowed. The manufacturer is listed as Hefei Hanchan Network Technology Co., Ltd., doing business as Colerinsec, of China.

The CPSC reports two incidents in which children removed magnets from the figures’ limbs and ingested them. Both children required hospitalization. No deaths have been reported, but the commission is clear about the potential outcome if more than one magnet is swallowed.

Why loose magnets are so dangerous

What makes this magnetic toy recall so urgent is not the toy breaking — it is what happens inside the body afterward. High-powered magnets are far stronger than the novelty magnets many parents remember. When a child swallows two or more, the magnets can attract each other across the walls of the intestines, even from different loops of the digestive tract. That pinching force is what causes the harm.

The CPSC warns that ingested magnets can lead to perforations of the intestines, twisting or blockage of the bowel, blood poisoning, and death. These injuries often require emergency surgery. Making the danger worse, the early symptoms — stomachache, nausea, vomiting — look like an ordinary stomach bug, so a swallowing event can go unrecognized until a child is seriously ill.

This is exactly why the federal toy safety standard limits loose, high-powered magnets in products intended or appealing to children. A compliant toy either keeps its magnets fully enclosed and secured, or uses magnets too weak or too large to pose the same internal risk. The Jerify sets, regulators found, did neither.

What you should do

If you have one of these sets in your home — or if a child received one as a gift or hand-me-down — the guidance from the CPSC is straightforward and immediate.

  • Take it away now: Remove the magnetic humanoid toys from children immediately and stop using them.
  • Check the packaging: Look for the “Jerify” brown box and model number X003ADA3TD, or the 30-piece set of colored human figures with magnets in the hands and feet.
  • Contact Colerinsec for a refund: The remedy is a full refund. Consumers are asked to dispose of the toys and submit a photo showing they have been discarded to receive the refund.
  • Watch for warning signs: If you suspect a child has swallowed a magnet, seek medical care right away and tell the provider magnets may be involved — do not wait to see if symptoms pass.

What to do. Treat a suspected magnet ingestion as an emergency. If a child may have swallowed one or more magnets, call your doctor, a poison control center, or emergency services immediately, and mention magnets specifically so the child can be evaluated and imaged quickly.

Context and what’s next

The Jerify recall is not an isolated case. Loose high-powered magnets have been a recurring target for the CPSC, which finalized a federal safety rule for toy and novelty magnet sets to curb exactly this kind of injury. Even so, sets that fail the standard continue to reach American homes, frequently through third-party listings on large online marketplaces. In the same week this recall was announced, the CPSC published warnings and recalls covering a range of other imported children’s products, underscoring how much of the risk now flows through direct-import e-commerce.

For parents, caregivers, and anyone who buys toys online, the practical lesson is to treat magnetic building sets with extra caution — especially inexpensive, unbranded, or lightly labeled versions — and to keep any product with small, strong magnets well away from young children. Registering products and checking the CPSC recall list periodically can also help you catch alerts like this one before an accident happens rather than after.

The CPSC is expected to continue posting recalls of noncompliant magnet toys as its surveillance and marketplace enforcement efforts continue. Consumers who own the Jerify sets should act now rather than wait for a further notice.
